The Rose Mottl Leadership in Manufacturing Award is presented each year to recognize outstanding women who have worked to advance the manufacturing industry through significant contributions and whose efforts serve as an inspiration to current and future generations of women in manufacturing. The Technology and Manufacturing Association (TMA) created this award in the name of the legendary Rose Mottl, who was the Co-Owner and Vice President of Atlas Tool and Die Works. Mottl made her name in the manufacturing industry as the first woman to sit on the TMA Board of Directors and was recognized for her years of service at the TMA and proactive contributions to the industry. Mottl was the first-ever recipient of this award, which is presented each year to one outstanding woman in the field.
This year, our very own, Erica Wiegel, President of ARO Metal Stamping was granted this honorable award at the TMA's 91st Annual Dinner with the support of her fellow association members, partners, family, and friends. Erica has been leading and operating her metal stamping business since July of 2015 after her years of dedication to her family-owned company Wiegel Tool Works, Inc. Erica has devoted much of her time to her local TMA association, has a Northern Illinois University (NIU) scholarship in her name, partakes in speaking events to encourage young people and women leaders to get involved in the manufacturing industry, and has also visited many educational institutions to further promote the industry as a rewarding career choice. Erica continues to evolve her business and voice her message about the opportunities in manufacturing. She is greatly humbled and overjoyed to have been chosen for this award!
